Converted Skink Priest

Lizardmen Army Skink Priest sculpted by Games Workshop

Conversion and painting by Kiour-gr from the Warhammer Fantasy Battle Reporter forum

This model is nicely painted in a colourful style that emphasize the skink's customized features but what really makes the miniature stand out is the conversion work (which is why I included the pre-painted photo).

The snake skin headdress / cloak and the poisonous vipers wrapping themselves around the skink's outstretched arm are all very effective additions. Look closely and you'll even see that one snake's head is actually emerging from the skull's eye socket.

In my opinion, it's not the painting or sculpting alone that make this model special but the imagination and planning that went into it. That's why I've included it in this gallery - for sculpting inspiration !

Here you can see the same skink priest mounted on a Stegadon Ancient. The choice of colours for the unit is fantastic. Somehow Kiou_gr has managed to make the crew, Stegadon and Engine of the Gods all stand out at the same time. It "feels" really nicely balanced as a model and the Stegadon actually looks a bit annoyed -  like a Steg with a howdah and a load of shrieking skinks on his back probably would !
